C5 Has a Highly Professional Staff

The management and supervisory personnel at C5 have Masters and Bachelors degrees Early Childhood Education, Education, Public Administration, and related fields. The teaching and support staff have extensive university and college level training and education and professional experience. Many have Bachelors Degrees and some have Masters Degrees. All have the California required training in Early Childhood Education. C5 employs fully qualified teachers and no associate teachers, assistant teachers, or aides.

Each child is assigned to a primary teacher, who is a part of a teaching team in each classroom. There are typically about three teachers in each classroom. At the Infant-Toddler Center, children are in Learning Groups of three children with one primary teacher. The toddlers there are in Learning Groups of four children with one primary teacher. At the Preschool Center, the ratio for teacher to toddlers is usually one to four, for the youngest preschool age children it is usually one to six, and for the oldest preschool age children it is usually one to eight.

There is also a diverse support staff for all children and the teaching staff at both centers. It includes people in the roles of the Director of Learning; the Center Directors; very experienced auxillary teachers who are on staff, autonomous, and provide coverage when the regular teachers are absent, on breaks, or working on planning, preparation, and communications with families; a cultivated pool of regular substitute teachers with excellent education, training, and experience; the Office Manager; and, the Executive Director. These people are regularly in the classrooms and provide in-depth support to the regular teaching staff, children, and families.

On occasion, C5 may have in the program in limited roles and on a temporary basis: interns or assistants who are from colleges or universities who are in their advanced work on early childhood education, or experienced professionals from other early childhood programs, colleges, universities, and government agencies who want to experience and learn how C5 works. We also have access to consultants in the areas of social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development, as needed.
