California State Supreme Court, connected to the Preschool building behind it

The two centers are only two blocks apart and located in an urban setting in a maritime climate in the San Francisco Civic Center Neighborhood. The buildings that house both centers look onto City Hall and City Hall Park. In view and a block away are the Asian Art Museum, the Main Branch Public Library, the Community Garden, the County Courthouse, the City Coliseum, the Symphony Hall, the Ballet, and the Herbst Theater. Just across town North and East is the San Francisco Bay, and just West across town is the Pacific Ocean.

The Federal Courthouse is North, across the street from the Preschool Center. The University of California Hastings Law School is nearby. And, the new San Francisco Public Utilities Building, currently under construction, and due to open in February 2012, is across the street West of the Preschool Center.
