This month's Artist in Residence Topic: Chalk and Charcoal
2nd --- Noon: Ribbon Cutting Ceremony opening the Annual Exhibit of Children's Work as part of the Festival of Learning. All C5 children and staff attend. Supervisor Chris Daly will be present and speak as the Honorary Chair of the two-week long Festival of Learning.
2-11th --- Festival of Learning and the Annual Exhibit of Children's Work in the Great Hall at 455 Golden gate Avenue in San Francisco during building hours. This year's theme: "Facilitating Learning and Development with Young Children and Families"
5th --- Saturday Morning Seminar as part of the Festival of Learning 8:30 am --1:30 pm
The C5 staff and parents present 18 in-depth dimensions of how they are working together in Facilitating Learning and Development with Young Children and Families. A tour of the Exhibit and C5 Children's School is included. The general public, parents, and Early Childhood Education students and professionals are invited.
10th --- Festival of Learning Gala Evening Celebration 5:00 pm -- 7:30 pm
C5 school closes at both Centers for C5 families and the general public to enjoy:
Food, games, exhibit and school tours, music, dancing, Artists in Residence spotlights, Bridge to Reggio presentations by two staff who went to Italy, and a raffle

8-25th --- Festival of Learning and the Annual Exhibit of Children's Work in the Great Hall at 455 Golden gate Avenue in San Francisco during building hours. This year's theme is, "The Surprise! ... what children can do!!!" The festival includes the ribbon cutting ceremony, demonstrations of children working, a seminar, tours of the Infant-Toddler Center and the Preschool Center, and a gala evening celebration.
There will be eight public demonstrations throughout the three weeks of children and teachers collaborating on exploring and expressing the children’s interests. A schedule will be posted here when details are available.
8th --- Annual Festival of Learning: 11:00-11:30 a.m. Ribbon Cutting Ceremony opening the three weeks of events and the Annual Exhibit of Children's Work. All C5 children and staff attend. Assemblyman Mark Leno is the Honorary Chair this year for the three-week long C5 Children’s School Festival of Learning.
9th --- Public Demonstration by the Elephants Learning Group. Toddler children working with their teachers from 10-11 a.m. in the Great Hall at 455 Golden Gate Avenue.
15th --- Public Demonstration by the Tigers, Ice Creams, and Rhinoceroses Learning Groups. Preschool children working with their teachers from 12-12:30 p.m. in the rotunda at San Francisco City Hall.
16th --- Public Demonstration by the Lemurs Learning Group. Preschool children working with their teacher from 10-11 a.m. at Civic Center Park.
17th --- Festival of Learning Gala Evening Celebration 5:00 -- 7:30 p.m. C5 school closes at both Centers for C5 families and the general public to enjoy. The theme is "The Jungle." Join us for food; games; exhibit and school tours; music; dancing; films by children, staff, and prominent educators; and, a raffle
18th --- Public Demonstration by the Caterpillars and Butterflies Learning Groups. Infants and their teachers working together from 11 a.m. to Noon in the Public Utilities Commission Building cafeteria at 505 Van Ness.
19th --- Saturday Morning Seminar and tour of the school, as part of the Festival of Learning 8:30 am --1:30 pm; beginning in the Milton Marks Conference Center on the lower level of the C5 Preschool Center building at 455 Golden Gate Avenue. The C5 staff and parents present examples of how they are working together in Facilitating Learning and Development with Young Children and Families. The general public, parents, and Early Childhood Education students and professionals are invited.
21st --- Public Demonstration by the Bumblebees Learning Group. Young toddlers and their teachers working together from 11 a.m. to Noon in the Public Utilities Commission Building cafeteria at 505 Van Ness.
22nd --- Public Demonstration by the Mosquitoes and Scuba Divers Learning Groups. Preschool children and their teachers working together from 10 to 11 a.m. at Civic Center Park.
23rd --- Public Demonstration by the Penguins Learning Group. Young toddlers and their teachers working together from 10 to 11 a.m. in the Public Utilities Commission Building cafeteria at 505 Van Ness.
24th --- Public Demonstration by the Monkeys Learning Group. Toddler children working with their teachers from 9-10 a.m. in the cafeteria of the Hiram Johnson State Office building at 455 Golden Gate Avenue.
25th --- Late Opening 9:30 a.m. and Festival of Learning officially ends with the closing and moving portions of the exhibit to various community partners, including to the Main Branch of the Public Library.
