This privacy policy covers C5's information collection and use practices for anyone who uses the Site.
This Site, however, may contain links to other websites, advertisers and other third parties. By clicking on any of these links, you are leaving the Site. C5 has no control over the information collected from or about you by any third party after you have left the Site. This Privacy Policy does not cover the data collection and use practices of any third party linked to C5. What information, including personally identifiable information, does C5 collect from and about you?
Our goal in collecting information from and about you is to provide you with the best web experience possible, including providing proper formatting for our web pages and allowing you to participate in forums and view and post materials on the Site.
In order to provide you with our services, C5 collects two types of information from its community: passive technical information and information you voluntarily provide to C5, including personally identifiable information.
--- Passive Collection of Technical Information:
C5 uses Cookies on this Site. Cookies are small data text files that are sent from a server computer to your computer during a browsing session so that the web site may track your activities on the web site. Cookies are typically stored on your computer's hard drive and are used by web sites to simulate a continuous connection to that site. Cookies, by themselves, do not necessarily let a web site know any personally identifying information about you, such as your real name, address, etc., unless you previously provided that information at the web site or have set your preferences in your browser to provide that information. Cookies are used to keep track of topics that you have viewed, to display applicable alerts when you login (such as notification of new posts and topics, and tracking of Private Messages for staff and administrators).
C5 also tracks the last time you logged on, your IP address, your last activity, and your last post. Your IP address tells us both your Internet Service Provider (ISP) and the general geographic location from which you are connecting. We may also use your IP address to track the date and time you accessed the Site, how long you stayed on the Site, and what pages you visited. This information is used internally by C5 to help us provide a good web experience, including proper formatting for our web pages.
--- Information You Provide:
C5 requires you to register and obtain a user name and password to use the Site. To register, C5 requires that you provide us your first and last name and email address. Please note that C5 also possesses on file the information submitted by you in connection with your child(ren)'s application to attend C5 and any other forms submitted by you to C5. You might also provide personal information in the context of filling out a user profile, such as your children’s names, your address, your phone number and other information that you choose to submit. C5's use and disclosure of the information you provide us, including personally identifiable information is set forth below.
What other organizations besides C5 may be collecting information from you on the Site?
Currently, no other organizations are collecting information from you through the Site. Further, once you leave the Site, C5 does not control the privacy policies or the privacy practices of any third parties.
What happens to my information after C5 collects it?
When we collect information from you, we do not share any information with third parties outside of C5 without your consent. We would specifically request your consent to share any information.
In addition, C5 will not sell, dispose, or otherwise transfer your personally identifiable information to third parties without your consent except as specifically set forth in this paragraph and in the preceding paragraph. When you choose to supply C5 with your personally identifying information, C5 compiles this information in a database with other C5 community members' information and C5 reserves the right to transfer this information to a successor, related entity or to a third party purchasing or succeeding to C5's assets.
The information collected by C5 through the Site is retained by C5 in connection with the Site until such time as your child is no longer a student at C5. However, your information may be retained for archival purposes for use offline, such as to maintain alumni lists.
How can you review and correct information you submitted to the Site, unsubscribe, or opt out?
You may review, change, or delete any information you submitted to C5 by contacting C5 at 415.703.1277 or office@c5children.org.
What kinds of security procedures are in place to protect the loss, misuse or alteration of information under C5's control?
C5 uses industry standard security measures to protect the loss, misuse and alteration of the information under our control, including firewalls and other security measures. Nonetheless, due to the inherent dangers of the Internet, we cannot guarantee the protection of such information against loss, misuse, or alteration.
Additionally, we provide an opportunity for our community to communicate and interact through our message boards, and through private messaging in the forums and chat rooms. We may monitor the message boards with C5 employees.
C5 recognizes the need to protect personal information collected through the Site against unauthorized access, use, or disclosure. C5 limits employee access to personal information collected through this website to those employees or volunteers who need access to the information to perform their official duties. Employees and volunteers with access to personal information are made aware of the need to follow appropriate procedures in connection with any disclosure of that information.
Use of the Site by children under the age of 13
The Site is a general audience web site and is intended to be used by parents and other family members of students at C5. It is not intended for children and C5 does not want to collect any personal identifiable information for users who are under the age of 13. The safety of children is very important to C5, and C5 recommends that parents review this Privacy Policy and understand its terms, so that this Site is used only by persons age 13 and over.
C5 does not knowingly collect personal information from children or create profiles of children through the Site.
